THE BOOK

Q: When will the book be released?
A: I am shooting for Christmas of 2011.

Q: Where will I be able to purchase the book?
A: As it presently stands you will be able to download it from the site. Simultaneously, or shortly thereafter, one will be able to download it at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other online bookstores with the option to purchase a hard copy.

Q: Will there be photos in the book?
A: Yes

Q: I have heard there will be exclusive information some of which has never been publicized. Can you give me some ideas of what that may be?
A: Yes, there will be exclusives. No, you have to be surprised.

Q: What does the subtitle “The Follies of Fame” mean?
A: For a large part, The Princes and Princesses of Dance addresses the effects fame has on the Regulars, the fans and the effects it has on society.

Q: What is so different from this book and the others written about Bandstand?
A: This book is written from the viewpoint of the Regulars who danced on the show, their families and friends and from those involved in the show who have rarely come forward to tell their stories.

THE WEBSITE/YOUR MAP TO THE MAGICAL KINGDOM

Q: On the Homepage Slider how do I see all the photos and how many are there?
A: There are a maximum of eight. Just use the arrows on either side to scroll through. These will be featured photos that will change from time to time.

Q: On the pictures section can I silence the sound of the clicking kinescopes and can I stop photos to pause to look at one photo?
A: Absolutely. You can either mute from your computer or there is a mute icon on the kinescope albums that works the same way. On the lower left corner of most albums there is a red pause button. This will pause a particular photo. Just click that button again to restart the slide show in the chosen album. You can also freeze as many albums as you like while you are viewing another – up to you.

Q: How do I obtain copies of photos?
A: A few of the photos you will find on the site are in the public domain, but many are exclusive, owned by me from personal collections or purchased for my use and are copyrighted. They are also copyrighted in the form presented. As well, the photos from established photo journalists and such are through permissions. For usage, please make a request in writing.

Q: Are there more photos than what we see?
A: Yes, indeed there are. There are thousands of photos in my collection. What you are seeing is a small representation of a greater number. Also, the book will have photos that will not appear on the website.

Q: How do I search the site for information and photos?
A: The tabs below the Slider photo appearing on the homepage are your doors to the other pages with more information. Each tab has a drop down menu which lists other pages. For an example, Inside the Book will take you to other areas like Dances, Contest/Winners and Timeline. Simply clicking on Inside the Book will, as it says, take you to excerpts from the book. The Blog appears in two places – the tab and in the body of the homepage. If you want to read all the posts and all the more of the blogs, continue to scroll. Each blog has a “read more” direction which then opens the blog. On any photos accompanying the blog, you can click on the photo to enlarge it for a more detailed view.

Q: Where do I post a comment on a blog?
A: Comments on each blog are at the end of the blog under something called “Leave a Reply.” One just needs to post their name and email (emails are never made public) or even post anonymously and in the large window pane, type your comment and then left click on “Submit Reply.” Leave a Reply” is not to be confused with the “Contact Us” tab. “The “Contact Us” tab is to communicate with the site about other issues unrelated to the blogs. Coming soon will be a “We Are Listening” tab where you can post your own personal stories, make suggestions, add information and so forth.

Q: If I wish to keep my information private including my name and email address, will you do so?
A: Yes, of course. Your email will never be public. It is only used so that I am able to post a comment or such. You may post anonymously. Privacy is something I take seriously.

Q: Where are the links?
A: The links can be found on the lower right-hand corner inside each blog post. There you will find links to sites related to music, dance and Bandstand.
